with a 7" portable lcd and a usb trackball i can make my gauntlet interface, which would mean i wouldn't have to be taking the computer out of the bag all the damn time to check my maps.
Or i could just use it for periodic mapchecks with the GPS, and carry the usual paper maps with me. I like this idea better; less gear to lose/break (don't need as many batteries either). So i just need the GPS card for my computer, google earth pro (and goops :) goops being the live-updated GPS tracker free add-on for google earth. it can also log my progress and store it online, so other people can watch where i been and stuff. LOL.
Everything i'm taking with me will fit into the backpack, which is really good. The thighpack idea is good, i still like it, but apparently nobody really makes one, so a hippack might end up being what i get for the easy access necessities, i guess.
i added another story to my other blog, and i'll be doing part 2 later today i think. doo ta doo.

any other updates? Em's christmas present is on its way, it was actually easy this year and i knew what it would be back in september. Made it easier to order it online.
