the empire

i found it funny that the 4th of july parade that went by my window today (down the main street) had the local highschool band playing the empire march from star wars. and in the Empire state.

in the planets largest Empire.

Its funny, i never thought of america as an empire before, but it makes a lot of sense. We have almost 700 military bases across the entire planet, in every single country (i think). And we cause the most trouble, make big messes, and spend the most "money". Laughable? i think so.

anywho, i had a vision of what it would be like to be in Junon during the parade there, and how much fun that would actually be. And i realized how much fun it was to watch all the local shops and volunteer departments walk by and listen to the people cheer and hoot them on. this town is friends with itself. i like that. big change from any city i've ever lived in.
