skinsurrection

who thinks of holidays anyways? where did all the festivals go?

bother religions and their phony rhythms. those jive dull turkeys can't take the shine of true rock n roll limelight.

imagine if the worlds most popular religion had electric guitar at its core? What if you couldn't be a religious leader unless you could write music for an instrument and play it (not just mimic movements. robots can do that.)? What if the pontificus maximus was a rock god?

What if we setup a new pantheon of gods. gods of rock. gods of fighting. gods of science. god of piracy and stealing. gods of cooking. gods of construction and demolition, invention and assasination. God of Robots. Gods of animation. Gods to cover all aspects of our wide society. a pantheon with the wingspan to fly higher and faster than any other religion. An intricate blend, with not too many numbers perhaps. lets see what i would do for starters:

Should we roll similar things together for a narrower range of deities? Or should we keep it simple, gods as representatives of ideas, such as a god of studying and memory or a god of plant biology? Little godlings to send meditative prayers towards? Or should we skip the nonsensical bit and just tell stories of Kings of Legends, heroes of old who have passed on their merry way yet remain with saintlike ancestral status, lords of their dominion forever more; a god of rock who led a successful rebellion against slavers, a god of warriors; the dinosaur king who fought back an alien invasion. a god of construction and demolition who built a hall so great that it stood against time itself, only to blow it up after the moon goddess of time threatened not to sleep with him anymore. Moon goddess built the god of the robots, Kronos, who is pretty much just a glorified clock, that was sent to protect the planet from an incoming meteor. The Brewmaster, god of cooking and farming, once threw a party so big that the entire continent got hooked on his wife's smokeable plant, and brought an era of cooperation to the land that could befall no dissension save for the deluge that kind of made it hard to, ya know, survive.

What would a society with this central dogma actualize into? A guild of scientists bordering on magicians. a guild of warriors, factions of thieves to knights, non-military but mercenary. a union of builders and destroyers, masters of tools and materials, that brings great strength behind honed skills. School would be based on the basic needs of life; food, shelter, and growth. Everyone would learn, and in a teach-the-younger class setup, take part in growing the food for everyone in the community. Sciences would be sewn into activities. For instance, one would be learning plant biology while learning how to actually grow plants. Everyone learns how to also make and maintain all tools and materials, as with the growth and maintainment of food, starting from basic and growing with advancement. Learn how to chop wood, use wood to build frames, use frames to move stone, use wood to make fire, use fire to melt metal, all while learning measurements and math, and the chemistry associated as well.

For example: younger classes would cover how to use the basic tools available, and manage basical materials. and older student, when they pick a field of study they like, will learn more about specific tools for said area of schooling. A young student will learn how to plant a vegetable, grow it and care for it, and the next classes teaching the younger will also be learning how to breed them and cook them. Older classes further cement the knowledge by teaching the younger, under guide of the teachers of course. You wouldn't take a science course and learn all about the parts of fish, birds, plants, and bacterium. You would pick things that you liked to do, and learn how to do them. Younger schooling would cover basics so as to prepare kids to be able to, if nothing else, care for themselves. But this is no 8 hour school day, ugh no. Even basic fields would be divided up into schools, for instance. Fields are determined by their activities, and/or locations, so as to be practical in a broader range. Like the sea? you can learn to fish while learning to swim, and then about building and sailing boats or maybe do some sea sports instead. Sports would be an integral part of life, just like learning, except it wouldn't be considered part of "school". The only mandatory bit would be food school and tool school. 4 hours a day, max. Plenty of time for playing and other schools, like sports and hunting, fighting, magic and invention, anything you can think of.

competition would be encouraged, but balanced out with parties. By this i mean, a major part of life will be parties and celebrations, festivals and the like. Goals that many people can work towards and cometogether with, times when any achievements can be acknowledged and rewarded in front of everyone. Because hey, who doesn't like attention? Especially positive attention?

How to keep things friendly? by keeping fighting in everyones lives. Hostilities can be taken out at dojos, in town fighting arenas, local coliseums. Hopefully by demonstrating that nobody is better than anyone else, at a young age, we can avoid most stupid confrontations. All others can be addressed with simple honesty: be nice and make friends, defend yourself because its your responsibility, or hire someone else to. Warriors will always have friends, because everyone who can't take care of themselves will want someone who can close by. Warriors pretty much can get free shit, like any other great entertainer. Because of course, there will be people who like to take things or to cause trouble. People that get conscripted into ninja school. Want to be a pirate? great our country can use you on our enemies, which pretty much end up being slavers of any kind. Rulemakers who beleive rules have power. money makers who believe they can define your value. All ninjas will be kept as a defense force. we will only answer violence with violence. we will not attack except when openly challenged. as for the ninjas, well they'd have to be setup as a mercenary bit. And only people that still were, whats the word, jingoistic/patriotic, ie agree to use their skills as a defense and on our enemies, not us, would be kept. Anyone else is banished. Don't like us/life here? Great! Good for you! You can't stay here though.

When the amount of homeland enemies is in the majority, then it doesn't matter, its time to pack up and go somewhere else. An enemy to us is anyone that wants shit without doing anything for it. Someone who wants you to do their work for them. Most common problems can be dealt with by having guards around. The local warrior guild. They don't do anything except look for fights, and they only look for thieves and anyone else attacking someone in some physical way. By providing food and shelter, and power to everyone already for free, then stealing falls only to those who find it fun, not a desperate act for survival. Keeping the thief guild around is a good way to keep the warrior guild sharp, and vice versa. Balance. The science schools will be kept in check with the sports academies. Some will build better obstacles for the jocks, and the jocks will find ways to defeat them. The festivals give everyone times to come together, and people will find their own cliques and circles to join in the meantimes.

hell, with hydroponics and so many things available to be automated, we could just give out free drugs! lol. a line of temples would be the red light district. Let it be said that sex schools would be there too ;).

So it wouldn't be a problem if (and when, lol) most of the population decided to just party or laze about. It would just be obvious that if you didn't help out with the food, you don't get to eat. Not everyone has to help out all the time, just take turns. And anyone, in any school, would not be graded in a comparative sense to their peers. Thats where the "better than you" thing comes from. (Most retarded idea ever.) People having trouble can ask for help. Homework/excersizes are a good idea. Tests are not. People will advance at their own speeds. Thats what teachers are, leaders. People who understand People, and can help related said subject with some other familiar subject matter. Teachers are people in their field that can help other people Learn, not regurgitate books. And with older students helping out the younger, theres more personalized assistance going on. one on one, one on three, etc. Some students won't need help, and that leaves them to help their peers if they want. it would be supported that Everyone is good at something, even if you haven't found it yet, so its wise to help your neighbor so that he's around to help you later. Repay help with help. People that don't repay won't get help (the greedy.) Its not necessarily that the food is "free" for everyone, its that the abundance is there to be shared by everyone equally. You know that you'll have to chip in sooner or later, or everyone's gonna look down on you for being a no good mooch. Gifts will be encouraged as festival thingies, but requests will always be accompanied by offers. That is politeness. Its always ok to ask for help, just like its always ok to say no. you are never under any some invisible obligation, some outside force. Decide for yourself what you want to do. Help your neighbor, or not? help this stranger, or not? Can i even help them? If so, whats in it for me, is it worth my time? Its ok to be a little skeptical, but is it necessary to be an asshole?

Keep things simple and easy, and it'll help keep things relaxed and happy. Science is there to relieve stress if you use it properly. No more deadlines and their fastiduous scurrying inducement. There should be something for all types of people.

People that don't like anything don't have to stay, and will probably be encouraged to leave. Outsiders are welcome as long as they don't mind pitching in just like anyone else.

an attempt, at best.

i've probably left out too many thoughts, i hope this makes some sort of sense.

any thoughts or questions? holes you want filled in? challenges? i should have an answer, i would hope, if not i would be glad to find it and learn for myself. though pending the subject matter, i might curse a bit if i find myself at a loss for words where i thought i should have them.

PS: its cold cold cold. skin is doing better than i imagined realistically, though not as well as i'd hoped. then again, i was hoping for invincibility by now, but oh well ;)

i want to take a trip to amsterdam, with a lot of money. im part dutch after all. and after having discussed at long length with someone who has frequented it aplenty, i am much more enthused at the idea of a trip there.

somehow, a man managed to get a ticket for only 400$, where i found the cheapest route to FL was 500$. i am currently waiting on a response as to whom he used to get out of this frozen popsicle stand, how much was it, and how can i get it.

wow its late.
